AI is complicated enough. Choosing one shouldn't be.
PlainVerdict exists to help people make more informed decisions about AI.
There are more models, more subscriptions and more performance claims than most people have time to investigate. It's easy to assume the most expensive option must be the best, or that one familiar brand is the only option worth considering.
We think there's a better way.
We collect results from specified public benchmark datasets, explain what those tests measure, and turn the evidence into practical comparisons.
We show the source behind every published score. We distinguish measured performance from our own interpretation. When the data is missing, unclear or unsuitable for comparison, we say so.
We're not here to tell you which company to love.
We're here to help you find a tool that does your job well, understand its limitations and decide whether paying more makes sense for you.
Our own biases and conflicts
This site was built with an AI assistant made by Anthropic, and Anthropic's models appear in the data. We try to keep that from mattering: which models are listed follows a published rule that is not weighted by maker, rankings come from written rules rather than an AI, and the data and its sources are public. You can check all of it on the method and sources pages. We have not yet published a statement about who runs this site or how it is funded.
What you can check about this site
- This site contains no advertising, sponsored placements or affiliate links, and no rankings can be bought.
- It sets no cookies and loads nothing from third parties. See privacy.
- Rankings are produced by written rules, not by an AI model. See how recommendations work.
- Prices are shown only when we have verified a source. Today that is none, and we say so on every result.
